To mark International Women’s Day Mojácar Council organised a trip for local women which this year took them to Valencia.
As is customary, Mojácar women make the most of International Women’s Day for a getaway that is always eagerly anticipated and welcomed as a reason for coming together and disconnecting from the daily routine.
Mojácar Council Culture Councillor, Noemí Linares, and Health Councillor, Ana García, accompanied the 48 women who joined this municipal initiative on their visit to the city of the Turia.
They left Mojácar on Friday 8th of March, arriving at their destination in the late afternoon, allowing for a first excursion and contact with the city.
On the Saturday they were able to go to the musical “El Tiempo entre Costuras”, an exciting staging in which the sewing workshops, the glamour of the large hotels, political conspiracies and the secret services make up an entertaining story written by María Dueñas which is currently being performed at the Olympia Theatre.
Sunday morning was also used for a guided tour to see the most emblematic places, such as the Cathedral, the Silk Exchange and the Central Market.
It is now traditional that every year Mojácar Council calls on its female residents to go on a getaway to different parts of Spain. A getaway that is always accompanied, in addition to the de rigueur cultural visit, by attending a show of the moment, whether theatre or musical.
For its part, the “Mariquita la Posá” Women’s Association, in collaboration with Mojácar Council, also on the occasion of the celebration of International Women’s Day, held a meeting at the Mojácar Multi-Uses Centre to which other women’s associations in the region were invited.
Turre, Los Gallardos and Mojácar Women’s Associations had the opportunity to chat about female empowerment and its dynamics, women’s problems in today’s society in general and its transformation. The talk was given by Emy Pardo, Emotional Coach, with 20 years of work, expert in mental reprogramming and the creator of the P.E.A method to help become a confident person and achieve goals.
The talk was a success, getting all the participants to interact, and ending with a social afternoon snack.
