The president of the Valencian regional government, Carlos Mazón, has announced savings in public spending by reducing political posts, and specifically by reducing the number of sub-secretaries and regional secretariats of the new Consell, which will go from 55 to 46.
This reduction will mean a saving of about 3 million euro throughout the legislature, that is, 800,000 euro a year, “that all Valencians will save”, stressed the president.
Carlos Mazón made these statements at the end of the act of transfer of the portfolio of the First Vice-Presidency and Ministry of Culture and Sports.
In his speech, he also specified that this reduction in the posts of the Consell will materialise with the signing of the decree that determines the sub-secretaries and regional secretariats, approved in the plenary session of the Consell on Friday in Alicante.
In this sense, he has advanced that this phase of optimisation and cost reduction of the Consell structure will continue next week with “more important” changes in the general directorates, the public sector, eventual positions, and advisers. Although all of this means a saving, it also potentially means a reduction in jobs.
