TALISMAN star striker Vazquinho has departed CD Montesinos in a shock move – to arch rivals Racing San Miguel.
“Racing San Miguel have signed an informative ‘Bomb’,” said a spokesperson from Valencia 1st Regional G8 club Racing San Miguel.
Brazilian ace Vazquinho, affectionately known as ‘Vaz’, by supporters of CD Montesinos, returned to the Los Montesinos, Alicante, based outfit in 2014, his third spell at the club, in a move from Sporting Saladar.
Family man Vazquinho, married with two children, is a former Player of the Season, and leading goalscorer, at CD Montesinos during his spells at the club.
CD Montesinos were relegated from the Valencia 1st Regional G8 in the 2018-19 season, in what was a disappointing campaign, that saw manager Carlos Perez sacked, and caretaker manager Ruben being appointed.
The Vega Baja outfit appointed Jesus Santander as the new manager at CD Montesinos this month.
Vazquinho – Evanildo Batista Barreira – will be a big loss to CD Montesinos, both on and off the field.
Racing San Miguel have been busy during the summer in signing new players – in a bid to reach the Preferente under new manager Willy.
“Vazquinho ‘the man goal’ a player who has been top goalscorer in all the clubs he has played – a historic player for the region.
“Vazquinho will bring seniority and experience onto the pitch and in the dressing room at Racing San Miguel – a team with a lot of hunger,” said the spokesperson.
