Murcia born businessman Tomás Olivo has purchased the Centro Comercial Dos Mares in San Javier for 28.5 million euros. The company was acquired last week by the company that he owns, General de Galerías Comerciales.
Dos Mares Shopping Centre currently has around 24,800 square metres in which it currently accommodates 54 stores and 14 restaurants, as well as a cinema, bowling alley and several other entertainment sites. There is also parking for 1,250 cars.
The facilities were opened in March 2004 when the Portuguese group Sonae Sierra and the Eroski group jointly built the centre with an investment of 36.5 million euros but in 2005 the Basque company then sold its 35% share in the shopping facility
In the last 8 months the new owners have increased by 50% the number of commercial complexes that they own, from 6 to 9 adding to its portfolio ventures in the Costa Calida as well as others in Almeria, Granada, Marbella, Mataro, Roquetas de Mar, San lucar de Barrameda and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The purchase of Dos Mares now makes it less likely that there will continue their interest in taking over the La Rambla complex in the western outskirts of Cartagena
