La Zenia beach will be taken over by a major sporting competition next month, as the beach handball competition, ‘Arena 1000 Playas de Orihuela’, takes place.
The event will run between the 5th and 7th of July on playa Cala Bosque in La Zenia in Orihuela.
According to the councillor who launched the event this week, Víctor Valverde, “This tournament is of major importance at the national level and is held in our city for the second year in a row which demonstrates the ability of Orihuela to organise events of great relevance. It places us on the national map for something positive and healthy, like a municipality that bets on sports. Beach handball is great fun, and I invite everyone to attend the championship because you will have a great time.”
This national tournament, which is part of the Arena Handball Tour, will have 110 teams and the categories will be divided into infant, cadet, juvenile and senior, all with male and female competitors. In addition, the final will be broadcast live on TV, on the Teledeporte channel.
Last year, the 2018 competition saw 20 hours of live streaming through Teledeporte, with more than 200,000 viewers seeing the beauty of Orihuela´s beaches, and over 1,235,000 interactions on social networks.
