Daya Nueva 3 v. Albatera 5
The game was scheduled for a six o’clock start but never got underway until 7pm owing to the late arrival of the match official. This meant I would be unable to see the second half as I was due to attend our village band in concert at 8.30pm.
There was nothing between the two sides in the early stages but on ten minutes Kepe had to punch away an Albatera corner that was heading straight in. The visitors were now seeing more of the ball and creating a few chances.
On fifteen minutes one of these chances almost opened the scoring but fortunately for Daya the shot came back off the post and was scrambled away to safety. Daya took the lead on eighteen minutes when a long range effort from Rocamora surprised and embarrassed the visitors keeper.
The goal was really against the run of play but it was now Daya on top and three minutes later Rodenas scored Daya’s second. On twenty five minutes the visitors reduced the arrears with a nicely worked move and finish. It had become quite a scrappy game with the home side just about worth their one goal advantage.
Marcos had a good chance on forty one minutes to add to Daya’s tally but the keeper made a very good stop. Moments later it was 2-2 as Daya’s defence was once again in a benevolent mood. There were no further goals before the break when I had to leave for the village band concert. Stop Press final score Daya 3 v. Albatera 5. At least the band played much better.
No game until the 28 April due to the Easter break.
