At an extraordinary session of the Plenary, the Orihuela Council unanimously approved the delegation of powers from the Generalitat Valenciana for implementation of the works for construction of the La Zenia Emergency Centre.
The mayor, Emilio Bascuñana, welcomed the measure saying that “finally we will be able tobuild the centre despite the lack of commitment and management on the part of the autonomic government.”
The building will house the different bodies and forces of State Security: Local Police, Civil Guard, Civil Protection, Immigration and Fire. It will also serve as the base for SAMU in summer periods and will have an emergency heliport.
Completion will be before December of next year at a cost of € 2.2 million
