Sporting Orihuela 3 v. Daya Nueva 3
Daya got off to a good start and on four minutes a snap shot by the visitors almost opened the scoring as the home side looked to be very unsure in defence ! Famous last words, as on six minutes a bad mistake by Kepe in goal gifted Orihuela the opening goal.
Just six minutes later from a corner it was 2-0 when Kepe could only parry away a goal bound shot straight to,an opposing player who made no mistake with his strike. So with the home side now well in the driving seat Daya needed to score the next goal and very soon !
Slowly slowly the visitors came more into the game but the clock was ticking down. On thirty five minutes Daya put together a series of good attacks but their finishing was terrible. On forty two minutes Daya did manage to score but needed two attempts to get the ball across the line, Marcos eventually doing the honours. So 2-1 at the break with Daya now back in the match.
Daya started the second half with a good fast break down their right and a great cross from Marcos was just pushed away by the keeper as Franki was about to shoot. Just minutes later from a Josue cross Carlos just failed to make good contact with the ball and his shot was well off target but these were encouraging signs for the visitors. Even though Orihuela were still looking pretty dangerous Daya were well and truly in this game with a big shout.
Josue forced the home side keeper into a fine save on sixty four minutes as Daya continued to press for the equaliser. On seventy minutes it was all but over for the visitors when Orihuela scored with a thumping header from a long range free kick. Then on seventy five minutes a glimmer of hope for Daya as Rocamora pulled a goal back from a corner.
Moments later a brilliant Daya effort flashed just wide. Could there yet be something in it for Daya with still ten minutes on the clock ? With Moya and Norberto on as subs for the last twenty minutes better service to Daya’s front men was now occurring and had played a large part in the second goal.
Daya tore into their opponents as the game drew to a close but would a goal come ? With just one minute of normal time to play a great ball found Josue who beat two defenders to fire home the equaliser that Daya thoroughly deserved.
There were chances for both sides to win in added time but it was 3-3 at the final whistle. It had been a great advert for football at this level with an aggressive display from both sides and the yellow card count indicated as much. Men of the Match for Daya were the subs Moya and Norberto, only on for twenty minutes or so but both class acts !
