For San Miguel the Nationals became a great showcase for the club’s bowlers. The Men’s Triples (Gary Raby, Johnny Raby and Brian Allen) had a wonderful semi-final picking up a hot shot against a strong Javea team.
As mentioned last week 2 of our Ladies Triples teams had to face each other in the semis and Lynn Greenland, Ann Eagle and Gail willshire were able to proceed through. Unfortunately, however, both of our Triples came up against Quesada teams in the Finals and the blue shirts prevailed.
The Ladies Pairs final was an all San Miguel affair with Gail Willshire & Lynn Greenland facing Val Collier & Ann Eagle. The match was close for about 13 ends after which Val and Ann were able to pull away, securing the win on the 17th end.
Finally, the Ladies Singles was another all San Miguel affair with Mary Dyer taking on Ann Allen. Both ladies had played well throughout the competition but Mary really had the bit between her teeth. The Club Champion and Champion of Champions winner was determined to add another title to her haul and really had her game head on, ensuring she took the gold medal.
So, in summary, San Miguel had 10 semi-finalists and representatives in every 2018 Nationals final except one, and we should be very proud of our club. Well done to all those who took part.
