“The Magic of Reading” recently came to Mojácar’s Bartolomé Flores School, when all 350 children experienced an unforgettable day which brought together magic and the world of books.
Organized by the Almeria’s Provincial Diputación in collaboration with Mojácar Council to promote reading in the Levante / Los Vélez area, the event was presented by magician Luigi Ludus, who worked his ‘magic’ with excerpts from novels such as Don Quixote, Alice in Wonderland and The Three Musketeers.
Whatever the author, the aim to create curiosity about the stories remained the same on the day, with characters leaping from the pages to tell their tale, along with fun magic games to involve the children in the plots.
The School, together with Mojácar’s Education and Culture Department, organizes a series of complementary activities for all their pupils throughout the year as well in the summer holidays as part of the Secondary Education programme, which includes visits, shows, concerts and workshops. Those involving theatre, magic and outdoor art are some of the most regular and most popular, planned accordingly to the season.
The “Discovery Routes”, for the more adventurous, provide an alternative opportunity for the whole family to join in activities, which involve visits to neighbouring places of cultural and historical interest, which are a great way for everyone to get together and enjoy a different environment.
