Campoverde Theatre Group performed their latest production, “Taking the P out of Panto” to rave reviews from the sell-out audiences. Patrons loved the supper show format and the intimacy of the venue.
This latest production had audiences laughing throughout the evening as this talented group of thespians took an alternative view of many traditional pantomime themes.
The evening consisted of a series of short, funny sketches that looked at what really happened to many well-loved characters for example Cinderella ended up divorced from Prince Charming who went off with a younger woman, Elsa from Frozen; Aladdin made one wish too many and ended up more destitute than he had ever been; Sleeping Beauty had aged so much during her years of slumber that she had turned into a hideous old crone.
All the sketches were accompanied by appropriate music that was very well received. Special mention was made of the minstrel type format where many sketches were introduced from well know rhymes. The only negative heard from the audience was that they had laughed so much that their jaws were aching!
Everyone wanted to know what the next production by the Campoverde Theatre Group would be, and the group are pleased to announce that rehearsals are already underway for “Supper on Broadway” which will be performed at the end of September.
The proceeds from the supper show were presented to the ‘Tasha Fund’ at the Emerald Isle on Easter Monday.
The group are always pleased to welcome new members whether they want to be involved in performing or helping backstage.
The group rehearse on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, starting at 2pm at the Community Centre / Reading Point, Ramon de Campoamor, Calle Cipres, which is situated near Aldi supermarket.
