24 members and guests from Alfie’s GS travelled to Roda GC for our August meeting. With the recent thunderstorms in the area over the last couple of days it looked like we could have been in in danger of being affected by the weather but thankfully it never materialized and remained generally calm if cloudy.
Unfortunately as the ground was soft we were not able to take buggies on the fairways so it made it a long day of being restricted to cart paths. On the upside the greens were extremely receptive and made hitting into them straightforward. Putting on them was a little slow which is understandable given the amount of rain that fell but on the whole the course was in very good condition which is always expected at Roda.
Our winner of the day was Gordon Cowan Playing off a handicap of 18 with 41 stableford points, Second on countback went to Nigel Glasson playing off a handicap of 16 with 35 stableford points. Best Guest went to Steve Mason with 37 stableford points
