Charities across the Costa Blanca south areas have suffered a massive blow – as The Leader exclusively reveals that Flamenco shows will cease at the famous Grand Design house Casa la Pedrera.
“We will not be staging anymore Flamenco Shows”, owner of Casa la Pedrera Jenni Ray told me.
Jenni and her husband Derick, who emigrated to Spain from London over a decade ago, have raised thousands of euros for charities.
Summer Horse and Flamenco Shows have been an overwhelming success at the Torremendo, Orihuela, based home.
Kevin McCloud from TV’s Grand Design series arrived in Torremendo to film the design and building of Jenni and Derek’s home, overlooking Lake Pedrera that became a huge tourist attraction.
Elche Children’s Home is just one charity that has benefited both financially and on a personal basis for the children over the last decade.
Thousands of euros have gone into helping the funding to run Elche Children’s Home from the staging of the Charity Horse and Flamenco Shows at the venue.
“We have been fined 10,000 euros for staging the Flamenco Shows. So we have decided that no more shows will be staged”, said Jenni.
“We have raised funds for many charities from staging the popular shows, namely for the Elche Children’s Home,” said Jenni.
Down the years thousands attended the Summer Horse and Flamenco Shows, with the Jay Marwick Company of Dancers, Emma Tytherleigh, and Juan Cortex star performers – in aid of charities.
The owners of the Grand Design house have also raised thousands of euros having staged Halloween, bonfire nights, Christmas Carols by Candlelight and Easter events.
Emma Tytherleigh, equestrian artist, who starred in Fiesta Horse in recent years, played a leading role in Circus Vegas throughout Europe.
Emma, currently in Nimes, France, training young Lustiano stallions, said: “Performing at Casa la Pedrera has always been exciting for me.”
