CHAOS has emerged within the Second Regional Group 16 in Valencia – just a week into the 2016-17 season – with THREE of the 15 teams withdrawing from the league, throwing fixtures into turmoil!
The Spanish FA have been notified that CD Oriol ‘A’, CD Torrevieja ‘A’ and CD XTX Sport Horadada have withdrawn from the league – that has led to fixture changes – that affects clubs, including Alicante, Los Montesinos based CD Montesinos, CD Benijofar and clubs in Orihuela, along with clubs in Redovan, Murada and Caliche amongst others.
CD Montesinos Presidente Felipe Parades only discovered the turmoil during the club’s opening fixture of the new season against CD Benijofar on September 18: “We will try to organise a new fixture list,” said a spokesman from the club.
The Vega Baja outfit are now also faced with giving season ticket holders a refund: “With reference to those who have purchased season tickets, refunds will be provided,” said the spokesperson.
CD Montesinos, who have appointed a new manager this season in Camacho, had offered season tickets at 30 euros: “There will be alterations to the season ticket price. This is solely down to the Spanish FA. We are doing our best to correct the situation,” added the spokesperson.
“After CD Oriol ‘A’ and CD Torrevieja ‘A’ pulled out of the league the chaos continued – with CD XTX Sport Horadada also then also withdrawing,” rued the spokesperson.
“The Spanish FA are not going to change the fixtures, meaning that CD Montesinos have at least seven rest days – along with the Festivity breaks,” they said.
CD Montesinos will keep their supporters updated, via the club’s website, emails, and within the Media. The club are planning to fill the fixtures’ void with regular friendly games. “The situation is totally out of the control of the club and the committee. Fans’ support is now, more than ever, required,” said the spokesperson.
*New manager Camacho had to watch CD Montesinos from the stands in the opening 3-0 defeat away at CD Benijofar, due to his manager’s licence not being received.
