The Civil Guard has detained three people for eight attacks on shops in Alicante, Murcia and Castellón
Last May, one of the thieves involved in an early morning attack on an optician’s in Guardamar at lost his mobile phone in the hasty flight, the discovery of which been key to dismantling the criminal gang.
The Civil Guard has arrested three alleged members of a group of thieves, charging them with eight robberies in establishments, including opticians, perfumeries, gambling houses and pharmacies in the provinces of Alicante, Murcia and Castellón.
The thefts were committed in Guardamar del Segura and Orihuela Costa, Torre Pacheco (Murcia), Burriana, Cabanes and La Vall d’Uixó, the last three in the province of Castellón. The Civil Guard has discovered articles in a house search linking the detainees to the assaults.
The men arrested are three Spaniards, aged 19, 27 and 30, who were travelling from Madrid to commit a criminal offence.
To raid the commercial establishments, they stole high-end vehicles which they subsequently dumped, but only after spraying the interior with a fire extinguisher to cover any traces they may have left behind
The detainees have been charged with crimes of belonging to a criminal group, forceful theft, theft of motor vehicles and theft of property. The investigating court No. 1 of Torrevieja ordered pretrial detention for one of the detainees.
