Mojácar municipality is getting ready to celebrate its Patron Saint Festivities in honour of Saint Augustine, which will take place from the 24th to the 28th of August 2024. These festivities, which are a reflection of the tradition and culture of the municipality, promise to be one of the most outstanding events of the summer in Almería province. Over these four days, both residents and visitors to Mojácar will be able to enjoy a wide variety of activities designed for all ages.
The festivities will begin on Saturday 24th of August with the traditional midday fair that will open the festive day in the municipality and will be livened up by the Juaraguinos band, followed by the much-anticipated opening address of the festivities at 11pm by Francisco Baraza. This will be followed by the coronation of the 2024 queen and ladies, an event that marks the official start of the festivities. The night will continue with the concert by “Astola y Ratón” and music by DJ Joky until the early hours.
Sunday 25th of August will be a day full of traditional activities, starting with the midday fair and continuing in the afternoon, when the traditional ribbon race on horseback will be held at The Fountain. The night will feature performances by Grupo Generación Beta and a concert by Henry Méndez, followed by DJ SEE.
On Monday 26th of August the Mojácar Indoor Football Tournament will be held, as well as a domino tournament, and the day will end with a public open-air dance livened up by the Orquesta El Norte and Raúl Vazco.
On Tuesday 27th of August the youngest ones will be able to enjoy a Video Game and Virtual Reality Fair. In the afternoon, the traditional taking up of the water and floral offering to the patron saint, Saint Augustine, will take place, with a procession going from the Fountain to the municipality’s Parish Church.
On Wednesday, 28th of August, the patron saint’s day, a mass will be held in honour of Saint Augustine, followed by the procession through the village streets. The Midday Fair will be livened up by the “Los Chorreones” band, and the afternoon will end with the traditional children’s ribbon race.
Francisco García, Mayor of Mojácar, invites all residents and visitors to take part in these festivities, highlighting that “the Saint Agustine Patron Saint Festivities are a unique occasion to enjoy our traditions, share with our friends and show the best of Mojácar to those who visit us.”
For his part, Festivities Councillor Pascual Artero, has guaranteed that “this year we have prepared a diverse and complete programme, thinking about all ages and tastes, so that no one is left without enjoying these very special festivities.”
