The Education Department has initiated an urgent minor contract to ensure the supply of heating fuel to the municipality’s nursery and primary schools. This measure will allow immediate support to educational centers while the administrative process for the general supply contract, currently in its final stage, is completed.

The temporary emergency contract has been implemented to prevent interruptions in the heating service, amid low temperatures and a rise in seasonal respiratory infections, as noted in the official report. Thanks to this action, fuel can be delivered immediately according to the specific needs of each school.

Education Councilor Vicente Pina explained that the decision was made “to guarantee the students’ well-being as quickly as possible, prioritizing their health and comfort during the winter months.”

Pina also noted that the general contract, which will regulate fuel supply for the coming years, “is almost complete and will be published in the coming days, providing long-term stability and orderly management.”

The councilor aimed to reassure families, stating, “We want families to know that no child in Orihuela will be left without heating in their school. We have acted quickly and responsibly to respond to this exceptional situation.”

The Education Department will continue to monitor the fuel supply in schools and maintain direct coordination with each center to ensure that the situation returns to normal as quickly as possible.
