This visit marked the 20th anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
Key Outcomes:
- Trade Boost: Agreements were signed to expand Spanish pork exports and authorize cherry exports to China for the first time. A new working group was also created to improve market access for Spanish medical devices, medicines, and cosmetics.
- Strategic Cooperation: A new Action Plan outlines collaboration in four areas: economy and trade; agriculture and fisheries; science, technology, and green innovation; and cultural and educational exchanges.
- Scientific & Educational Links: New partnerships were forged between Spanish and Chinese institutions, supporting joint research, student exchanges, and promotion of language and digital education.
- Cultural Initiatives: The two countries agreed to deepen film industry collaboration through joint productions, events, and festivals.
- Business Engagement: Sánchez met with Chinese companies in the automotive, battery, and renewable energy sectors, encouraging investment in Spain and promoting Spain as a base for international expansion.
