Residents of Orihuela Costa are once again rallying in frustration over the crumbling state of their roads. After years of neglect and mounting damage, the community is taking matters into their own hands—quite literally.
Faced with a lack of action from Orihuela Town Hall, nearly 100 residents from almost all of the coastal area’s 40 neighbourhoods have collaborated to document the alarming spread of potholes across the region.
It seems as though it was one such pothole that led to the death of 59-year-old British resident Adrian last week, who lost control of his electric scooter as he either hit or swerved to avoid a hole in the road as he was returning home from work on Wednesday.
Perhaps now the Orihuela council might finally act!
