  • Suspects Linked to 11 Theft Cases Worth Over €8,000

March 29, 2025 – The Spanish Civil Guard has arrested a group of five individuals responsible for a series of supermarket thefts in Alicante and Murcia. The suspects targeted a well-known supermarket chain, stealing goods worth more than €8,000.

The investigation began after a representative from the supermarket chain filed a complaint. Surveillance footage revealed that the suspects followed a consistent pattern: three or four individuals entered a store, with one filling a cart with high-value items such as cured meats, alcohol, canned goods, and extra virgin olive oil. Another suspect distracted store employees, while a third quickly exited without paying.

Tracking the suspects proved difficult as they had no fixed residence. However, officers arrested two of them in the act at a supermarket in a Rojales residential area, recovering stolen goods on-site. The remaining three were later detained in Guardamar del Segura and Almoradí (Alicante).

Most stolen items were sold on the black market. Authorities also seized two vehicles used in the crimes.

The Guardia Civil’s investigation unit in Novelda has linked the suspects to 11 thefts across several towns, including Novelda, Torrevieja, Almoradí, Catral, and Rojales (Alicante), as well as San Javier, Jumilla, San Pedro del Pinatar, Cartagena, Archena, and Caravaca de la Cruz (Murcia).
