Since the Truscott family bought Hotel Algorfa on the CV935 between La Finca and Algorfa three years ago, they’ve made a point of arranging many different events for the benefit of their regular customers and visitors to the area, and they are always on the lookout for new ideas. For Manager Grace, it’s not just about the money. She says:

‘The Hotel is at the heart of the community, and not everybody wants just drinks and live entertainment, although that’s a big part of our regular programme. We do our best to offer a range of activities to appeal to everyone.’

On Saturday 29 March, the Hotel will host its first-ever Wellbeing Afternoon from 2.0pm – 5.00pm. The event is organised by Sandra Piddock, who is one of the people behind the monthly Artisan Market which has been held at the Hotel for almost two years on the first Saturday of each month.

Sandra is a local author, psychic and healer, who trades as Sandra’s Soul Cave, selling crystals and other spiritual items at various events in the area. She had the idea of organising the Wellbeing Afternoon after recently being part of a two-day Mind, Body, Spirit Fair at the newly opened PA Community and Wellbeing Centre in Los Montesinos. She told The Leader:

‘I thought it would be an idea to try similar, smaller events around the area, to introduce locals to the services on offer at the Centre and the people who provide them, and to give people an opportunity to experience a bit of pampering and self-care close to home. Like Hotel Algorfa, the PA Community and Wellbeing Centre is focused on community, and although it’s a spiritual and healing centre, we provide other activities and services too.

All the people who will be attending on Saturday work with and from the Centre, so it’s a chance for people to ask for advice, try taster sessions of different therapies and have mini readings in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.’

Sandra is starting small, with around 7 or 8 people offering Mediumship, Tarot and Angel Card readings, reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Reiki and Chakra Clearing. There will also be crystals, books, cards and other spiritual items for sale at very reasonable prices. Sandra and reader and therapist Tamsin German are both published authors, so you’ll be able to pick up signed copies of their books as well.

If the event is well supported, there will  be more Wellbeing Afternoons at suitable venues in the area over the coming months.

Entry to the Wellbeing Afternoon is free, and there is no need to book with the readers or therapists. Just turn up and see what’s on offer. Enjoy a drink and admire the views from the Hotel’s terrace while you’re there. And if you’re feeling peckish,

Why not build your own bocadillo in the deli, or try their delicious savoury snacks and sweet treats, produced on site by the Hotel’s own bakers and chefs?
