Orihuela’s Department of Tourism has planned a series of guided tours throughout April, offering residents and visitors the chance to explore the city’s heritage, history, and gastronomy. These activities are part of the Holy Week celebrations, a time when Orihuela welcomes numerous tourists.

The program kicks off on Friday, April 4, with the “Sweet Steps” tour, a journey through historic convents in the city centre, ending with a tasting of traditional convent sweets.

On Saturday, April 12, marking the start of Holy Week, the “Relics of the Passion” tour will take participants to the Franciscan convent of Santa Ana, where they will discover its impressive collection of religious relics.

During Holy Week, from Tuesday, April 15, to Friday, April 18, the “Walking Through History” tours will highlight Orihuela’s rich historical and architectural legacy for the many visitors arriving in the city. These guided tours will take place daily at 11:00 AM.

Literature and poetry enthusiasts can enjoy two special tours dedicated to Miguel Hernández. On Friday, April 25, a unique tour through the city’s palm grove—the second largest in Europe—will feature poetry readings in a scenic natural setting. On Saturday, April 26, the traditional “Miguel Hernández: Life and Work” tour will visit key locations from the poet’s life and career.

Finally, on Sunday, April 27, an interactive and family-friendly visit to the Science Museum at the UMH Desamparados campus is scheduled. This experience includes a guided tour of the interactive museum, and a physics workshop designed for both children and adults.
