Members of the La Marina Golf Society departed from home in blustery and overcast conditions to arrive at El Plantio for the 10am first tee, many of us wishing our shorts had come out of hibernation to join them on the course . Despite anticipating cooler weather, the match was played in bright sunshine with a slight breeze throughout.
El Plantio was generally in reasonable condition, though some greens provided a bumpy ride for the golf balls. The numerous water hazards housed not only our many errant balls but also what seemed to be hundreds of terrapins.
The match employed a medal format with a maximum of five over par as the highest score recorded per hole. The presentation occurred later that evening following a pleasant dinner at Bar 13, a new venue for the Society. Alan Craig, along with the leaders of our Scandinavian sponsors Dave Slightem and Tommy Ansegard, expressed gratitude to all attendees for their support.
New members Chrissie Liljefors, Ollie, and Anne Rasmossen were welcomed into the society by Alan, followed by a prize presentation conducted jointly by Alan, Dave, and Tommy.

· Nearest the pin on hole 18: Charlotte Tranberg
· Nearest the pin in two on hole 16: Anne Rasmossen
Two matches were played in the 2025 Knockout. In a first-round game, Gordon McLagan defeated Mikael Olsson. In a second-round game, Sue Lyall finally triumphed over Lisa Ansegard following a play-off replaying the 18th. Overall, the UK team surpassed the Scandinavians by 1182 strokes to 1304.
Results of the Scandinavian Cup were as follows:
· In third place, Gordon McClagan with a score of 73.
· In second place, Dave Freeman with a score of 70.
· Winner on a card play-off, Ollie Rasmossen, also with a score of 70.
No players managed to score 2s on the short par 3 hole 9 or any other hole, so the 2s pot will roll over for the fourth time at Bonalba on April 3rd, with the first tee scheduled for 10.00am. There are still three places available, so be sure not to miss out.
