Murcia, March 14, 2025 – The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, as part of its efforts to prevent and combat drug trafficking, has carried out Operation ‘Chasles,’ successfully dismantling a criminal group operating an active drug sales point in the urban center of Cieza.
During the operation, officers arrested the four members of the criminal group on suspicion of public health offenses related to drug trafficking and electricity fraud. The search led to the seizure of over 100 doses of cocaine, approximately 100 grams of hashish, and a large quantity of medication. Authorities also confiscated drug-related equipment, including precision scales, packaging materials, cash, a vehicle, and a large amount of hunting ammunition.
The investigation began last year when the Civil Guard’s Citizen Security Prevention Unit launched an operation to verify reports of a drug sales point operating out of a residential property in central Cieza.
Early investigations allowed officers to locate the property and confirm their suspicions. Surveillance revealed a high volume of visitors arriving both on foot and by car, staying for barely a minute before leaving.
Surveillance efforts also showed that activity at the property increased throughout the day, with peak traffic occurring in the evening, at night, and especially in the days leading up to the weekend. Among the suspected buyers were many known drug users from Cieza and nearby municipalities.
The investigation continued until officers identified the individuals running the illegal drug operation. The suspects were four members of a family clan with previous offenses for similar crimes. Their main products were cocaine and hashish.
Once sufficient evidence had been gathered, the Civil Guard launched the final phase of the operation, arresting all four suspects. They now face charges of drug trafficking and electricity fraud after officers discovered an illegal power connection supplying the drug house.
During the search of the property, officers found a ‘worktable’ containing over 100 doses of cocaine and nearly 100 grams of hashish, along with cutting tools, precision scales, wire, and small circular plastic bag cutouts used for packaging the drugs.
Additionally, 700 high-concentration clonazepam pills were seized. Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine commonly used as an antiepileptic but is also illicitly used in the production of ‘karkubi,’ a drug resembling hashish but with lower market value.
Officers also confiscated €2,000 in small denominations, around 50 shotgun cartridges (12mm caliber), and a vehicle used in the criminal operation.
