Pilar de la Horadada is set to approve its Local Urban Agenda in the upcoming February council meeting, marking a key step in securing 5.3 million euros in EU FEDER funds for three major projects aimed at improving urban development and quality of life in the municipality.

KEY URBAN PROJECTS FOR PILAR DE LA HORADADA

The three major projects to be funded by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) focus on infrastructure, cultural heritage, and digital transformation:

Urban Rambla Regeneration Plan: This project will extend the watercourse channel, improve irrigation systems, add landscaping, and create new bicycle lanes and pedestrian areas.

Tourism and Cultural Heritage: The plan includes the creation of an Archaeological Interpretation Centre at the Cañada de Práez site, the preservation of the archaeological site, and initiatives for pedestrianising the town centre to promote sustainable mobility.

Digital Transformation of the Local Administration: This will involve the implementation of a municipal GIS platform, improvements in local government processes, and the establishment of a Smart City platform and vehicle flow monitoring system.

AGENDA URBAN AND STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

The Local Urban Agenda is designed to foster sustainable, balanced urban development, tackling challenges like urban growth, mobility, environmental sustainability, and economic development. It will serve as the foundation for the municipality to apply for European funding to support these projects.

The Action Plan (PAI), a key part of the submission, will be presented to the Ministry of Finance before February 28. The funding, if approved, will cover 60% of the total project value, estimated at 8.95 million euros. This means the Town Hall is seeking 5.37 million euros in EU funds, with the remaining 3.58 million euros to be financed through local budgets.
