The countdown has begun for Mojácar Carnival 2025, one of the most eagerly anticipated festivities of the year. From the 21st of February to the 5th of March, the municipality will be filled with parades, costumes and shows, with a programme designed for locals and visitors to enjoy the magic of this celebration.
The kick-off will be on Friday 21st of February with the Children’s Carnival, when the very youngest will be able to enjoy bouncy castles, craft workshops, dances and musical games at the Multi-Uses Centre. The day will end with a concert by Los Lagartos and DJ SEE, starting at 10pm, an event that promises to liven up everyone who goes along.
On Saturday 22nd of February, the party will take to the streets with the traditional Parade of Troupes, which will go along Mojácar Playa from Río Abajo to the Commercial Centre from 5pm. In the evening, the Multi-Uses Centre will host the Dance Competition at 8pm, when participants will show off their talent in a competition full of rhythm and creativity.
Later on, the eagerly awaited Grand Carnival Party will get underway, a night of music and fun with live performances by the Orquesta El Norte and DJ Raúl Vazco, who will liven up the night until well into the early hours of the morning.
The festivities will culminate on the 5th of March with the Burial of the Sardine, a symbolic act that will mark the end of this grand celebration. From 7pm, a procession will go around the streets in a farewell full of tradition and good humour.
The Mayor of Mojácar, Francisco García Cerdá, has underlined the importance of this festivity for the municipality: “Carnival is one of our most emblematic festivals and every year it improves in terms of participation and creativity. We want Mojácar to shine with its Carnival and for both locals and visitors to enjoy a unique experience, full of joy and togetherness.”
For his part, the Festivities Councillor, Pascual Artero, commented: “We have worked on a programme designed for all ages, with activities for the very youngest, traditional events and a big party that is sure to be unforgettable. We invite everyone to join in and enjoy a Carnival that will be spectacular.”
Mojácar Council encourages all residents and visitors to join in this celebration that every year brings together hundreds of people in a unique and festive atmosphere.
