The Civil Guard has arrested two men, aged 20 and 22, in Orihuela Costa on suspicion of drug trafficking. The men were found with several plates of THC hashish and 30 vaping devices containing THC, the main compound in cannabis, hidden inside toy boxes in their vehicle.
The two Spanish nationals face charges of drug trafficking and have been brought before Examining Court No. 3 of Orihuela, which released them under precautionary measures.
Officers from the Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) of Torrevieja were on duty when they identified a vehicle parked on a street in Orihuela Costa. The driver exhibited signs of being under the influence of drugs, prompting the officers to investigate further. As they approached, the officers detected a strong odour, which they suspected to be hashish.
Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered a cardboard box containing toys. One box, filled with puzzles, hid a vacuum-sealed bag containing hashish plates. Another box, labelled as a construction toy set, contained 30 vaping devices, each marked with a high THC content.
Evidence and Legal Action
Inside the vehicle, officers seized 150 grams of hashish, divided into four plates, 30 THC-filled vaping devices, 950 euros in cash, and three mobile phones. The vehicle used by the suspects has been impounded by the authorities, pending legal proceedings.
