The Civil Guard is searching for a 38-year-old Bulgarian man who attempted to kill his 62-year-old Spanish brother-in-law during a family dispute in Orihuela Costa on Monday afternoon. The victim was stabbed in the neck, while his wife also sustained knife wounds to her hands.

The attack occurred around 5:30 p.m. when a family argument escalated at the victim’s home. The victim’s wife appears to have been injured while attempting to intervene, likely trying to disarm the attacker or protect her husband. After the stabbing, the assailant fled the scene in a white Volkswagen Tiguan, possibly taking the knife with him. Relatives have informed authorities that the suspect suffers from schizophrenia.
