The musical Mamma Mia! is returning to Alicante for a three-week run at the Teatro Principal. This revamped version of the show, featuring iconic ABBA hits, follows a successful season at the Rialto Theatre on Madrid’s Gran Vía.
Alicante will welcome the vibrant characters of Donna and the Dynamos for a three-week performance from January 22 to February 8, 2026. The show will bring its new and exciting iteration to the Teatro Principal, complete with a stunning set, dynamic lighting effects, and fresh musical arrangements and choreography.
The story begins with Sophie, a bride-to-be eager to discover the identity of her father. After finding her mother Donna’s diary, filled with memories of her youth in August, Sophie decides to invite three potential fathers to her wedding. Alongside Donna’s close friends Rosie and Tanya, the stage comes alive with chaos and laughter as the past resurfaces.
The ensemble cast of 27 actors delivers a musical journey through ABBA’s greatest hits, including “Dancing Queen,” “Thank You for the Music,” “Chiquitita,” “Super Trouper,” “Gimme, Gimme, Gimme (A Man After Midnight),” and “The Winner Takes It All.”
This new version of Mamma Mia! retains the heart of Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus’s original vision, bringing the magic of ABBA’s music and the show’s joyful spirit back to Alicante. Tickets will be available “soon,” according to Som Produce.
