Mayoral salaries for all of Spain’s elected officials released by Ministry
The Ministry for Digital Transition has released the salaries of elected officials and public employees across the country. This includes the salaries of mayors and councillors from all municipalities in Spain.
When analysing the salaries, it is crucial to consider the amount of time they each dedicate to their government responsibilities. Larger towns usually have mayors who are full-time, resulting in higher salaries. Conversely, other municipalities may have partial or no dedication, so their salaries are significantly lower.
The highest Paid Mayors in Spain are in Madrid, earning 108,518 euros per year, and Barcelona (104,240 euros)
Meanwhile, in Alicante province, the highest-earning mayor was Luis Barcala of Alicante, who received a total of 79,060 euros. Other mayors earning more than 60,000 euros include: Elche: 66,944 euros, Elda: 65,643 euros, La Vila Joiosa: 63,747 euros
Mayors earning just below 60,000 euros per year include those of Sant Joan d’Alacant (57,721 euros), El Campello (57,712 euros), Pilar de la Horadada (56,517 euros), Dénia (53,000 euros), Crevillent (52,684 euros), Benidorm (50,696 euros), and San Vicente del Raspeig (50,349 euros).
