The Plaza de la Centuria Romana in Orihuela has been transformed into a festive hub with the opening of a Christmas Market, running until December 24. The event was inaugurated this morning by the Councillor for Festivities, Rocío Ortuño, and the Councillor for Commerce, Vicente Pina.

“This new activity adds to the festive atmosphere in Orihuela’s shopping streets, making Christmas even more special,” said Ortuño.

Pina highlighted the market’s diverse offerings, which include stalls selling Christmas items and handcrafted goods, complemented by engaging activities for children. Workshops scheduled over the coming days will feature storytelling, dancing, carolling, magic shows, and craft-making sessions such as snow globes, gardening, Christmas cards, and more.

The councillors emphasised that this market, introduced as part of Orihuela’s Christmas programme for the first time, aims to enhance the festive spirit across the municipality.

“Our goal is to create a lively Christmas atmosphere that supports the city’s commercial environment while attracting visitors and tourists,” they concluded.
