The councillor for Education, Vicente Pina, has announced the name of the winner of the 17th Christmas Story Competition, which the council organises every year to celebrate the upcoming Christmas holidays.

On this occasion, the winner is Jesús Hurtado Paredes, a pupil in the 6th year of primary school at Oleza School, for his story entitled ‘Una navidad después de la lluvia’ (A Christmas after the rain).

The prize consists of the publication and illustration of 3,000 copies to be distributed among the different schools in the municipality, as well as 3,000 bookmarks with the illustration of the story cover.

Councillor Pina said that the jury for this competition is made up of the councillor himself as president, the members Javier Murcia and Esther Sánchez, and Fuensanta Mazón as secretary, who have recognised that it is ‘a well-structured story, inspired by recent events that condition reality, highlighting that the magic of Christmas can serve to give us hope in the worst of times’.

The councillor praised ‘the participation of Orihuela’s schools, which once again this year have supported this competition in which the students show their creativity through their Christmas-themed works’.
