“Head to the airport and swing a left… that’ll get ya there”.

Font del Llop Golf (“Wolf’s Watering Hole”), a well-established course nestled within a steep-sided valley with very differing holes blended beautifully into the rocky landscape.  The small river that runs through the course was once used in local beer production – this now feeds five small irrigation ponds.

Well, what’s happened this week?  Not a lot but a lot at the same time!

The morning started with a phone call – “No buggies today” – not surprising after the deluge of the day before and the Yellow Rain Forecast.  A hasty email managed to catch people before they set off.  A much smaller field than normal took a chance and nine walkers set off ensuring no slow play!  “Millionaire’s golf” they said.

BUT WAIT!! Whilst a formal competition didn’t happen today the holy grail of golf did occur with Michael Leonard scoring a Hole in One on the 17th.  What a day to have it though with a much smaller audience.  Well done, Mick!  High odds with only a 12,500:1 chance of that.

Back south again next week with hopefully a full field to play at Mar Menor.
