Orihuela will have a new area in which to gather and watch the bells ring as they celebrate the New Year. The Council has decided to use the Glorieta for the celebration in the city centre.
The festivities have been put out to tender this Friday with a base budget of 31,218 euros (VAT included). Interested companies will have until the 28th of this month to submit their offers.
The event, according to the contract specifications, will run from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on 31 December / 1 January. The promoter is the Youth Council, headed by Councillor Anabel García (Vox).
The successful bidder will be responsible for all technical and logistical aspects of the event. Key elements include the installation of a large marquee equipped with a universal platform, a DJ table and a high-resolution LED screen. The decoration will include festive lights, balloons and illuminated signs with messages welcoming 2025.
The area will also be equipped with a high-quality professional sound system and a lighting show that will transform the marquee into a real discotheque. To keep the energy of the night going, three DJs will take turns to entertain the attendees.
In addition, the event will have a security team made up of three guards who will ensure the well-being of attendees and protect the technical equipment. An urban cleaning team has also been planned, coordinated by the Department of Waste Management and Street Cleaning, to ensure that the area is left in perfect condition after the event.
In addition to the New Year party, a second party is also scheduled for 31 December. It will be organised by the two Moorish and Christian groups, Contrabandistas and Moros J’Alhamed. It will take place on Calle Extremadura, where a marquee will be set up. It will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and from 12:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
