Over twenty thousand people celebrate Benidorm Pride with a massive parade
Several thousand people filled the streets and avenues of the city to celebrate the annual Benidorm Pride, said to be by organisers, the largest ever held.
The parade got underway on Avenida Ametlla de Mar which was lined along the whole route of approximately 3 km, to the Julio Iglesias auditorium. People of all nationalities, many who had travelled especially from overseas, followed the good natured fun in the true carnival style of this lively and multicoloured ‘parade’.
The parade was the central event of Benidorm Pride, a week-long celebration organised by the LGBTIQ+ community that marks the culmination of one of the most important Pride weeks in Europe.
Mayor Toni Pérez, together with the Minister of Tourism of the Generalitat Valenciana, Nuria Montes, joined in the parade, which they followed from various points along the route together with other members of the municipal council, and from one of the institutional floats that took part.
Rainbow flags, costumes, floats, trucks and thousands of people walking and dancing, once again demonstrated the most diverse and welcoming side of Benidorm. More than 20,000 people were in the city expressly to experience the celebration.
