The Minister of Finance, Ruth Merino, has promised the Mayor of Santa Pola, Loreto Serrano, to resolve the poor reception of the DTT television signal that has affected around 1,250 homes in the municipality around Varadero beach for a decade.

To this end, the public company Istec, attached to the Ministry of Finance, will launch a new DTT broadcasting centre, the third in the town, which will be installed in the area known as Torre de les Escaletes. This will provide coverage to the 1,250 homes that are currently in a shadow area, as they are out of range of the two existing broadcasting centres.

The political representatives held a meeting this Tuesday to discuss the details of the action that will be carried out.

The Mayor of Santa Pola has highlighted the fact that “finally this Council is going to find a solution to a problem that the municipality has been dragging on for so many years” and which, as she explained, affects 6,000 residents throughout the year and 40,000 in the high tourist season.

In parallel with the launch of a third DTT broadcasting centre in the municipality, Istec is going to renew the equipment of the other two telecommunications centres currently in Santa Pola. This action will allow people who already had DTT coverage to improve the quality of their signal reception and tune into new channels, specifically Boing, Energy, Mega, Trece, Atreseries, BeMad TV, and Real Madrid TV.

The Generalitat, as explained by the Minister of Finance, will invest a total of 155,000 euro in both projects, which will be launched imminently with an expected completion period for the third DTT centre of five months.
