The Valencian Community has registered a total of 6,786,222 international tourists during the first seven months of the year, 17.8% more than last year, and they spent a total of 8,5 billion euro, 25.9% more than in 2023, thanks to higher prices of everything from hotels to travel and food to gifts.

The market that has contributed most to this increase in accumulated foreign spending in the Valencian Community has been the British market, which has spent 2 billion euro up to July, 32.8% more than in the same period in 2023.

This is followed by the French market, which spent 1,1 billion euro, 13% more than in the previous year, and the Nordic countries, which, with 1 billion spent, increased their spending by 30.4% compared to the previous year.

In addition, the average stay is 9.5 days, which represents a growth of 5.2% compared to 2023, while the average daily expenditure, estimated at 132 euro, increases by 1.6%. This is higher than the 113.4 euro per day required to enter the country.

This is evident from the results of the surveys published this Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), regarding Tourist Movements at the Border (Frontur) and the Tourist Expenditure Survey (Egatur).

By market, the most important for the Valencian Community continues to be the United Kingdom, with the arrival of 1,730,434 Britons up to July, 15.7% more than in the same period in 2023. Keep in mind the amount spent increased 32.8%, double the increase in arrivals.

France follows with 1,173,451 tourists, 15.4% more than in the same period of the previous year; the Nordic countries with 639,283 tourists, 19.4% more than in the same period of the previous year; and the Netherlands, with 528,984 visitors, representing a growth of 24.2%.

In addition, the German market grew by 14% with the arrival of 433,467 Germans until July, Belgian tourists reached 419,883, 6.2% more than in the same period last year, and Italian visitors amounted to 334,754 until July, 10% more year-on-year.

Regarding the data for July, the Frontur survey shows that the Valencian Community received a total of 1,476,378 international tourists, which represents an increase of 10.8% compared to the same month in 2023; and they spent 2 billion euro, which represents an increase of 20% year-on-year, again, the amount spent being double the increase in people.

By market, growth is particularly notable in the case of the Dutch market (+51.3%), followed by the Nordic market (+10.2%), and French tourists (+9.7%). In addition, the United Kingdom market, the main source of tourists for the Valencian Community, has increased by 3.8%.

It is worth noting once again that the hoteliers, now supported by the Regional Government, objected to a maximum 2 euro tourist tax because they claim it would damage the sector, and yet the current price increases of 2 billion euro per year, increasing their profits, clearly does not, in their opinion. The implementation of the tax would have brought in around 13 million euro towards local services and facilities.
