A 42-year-old man has been arrested by the National Police in Rojales after he advertised high-end phones on a website that, once customers paid, they never received.

He has also been accused of committing a continuous fraud, using an online telephone sales company for this purpose. The amount defrauded is said to be above 100,000 euros, according to police sources.

The Economic and Tax Crime Group was aware of a high number of complaints about a website, with up to 121 of them recorded. The victims, from across the whole of Spain, reported that, after making an online purchase, mainly of high-end mobile phones, the item was not delivered, and neither did they receive a response from the website when they contacted it to resolve the non-delivery.

Following an investigation, the National Police found that the alleged perpetrator had four judicial warrants outstanding. One of them ordered his arrest for imprisonment, again for fraud.

The accused was traced to the municipality of Ciudad Quesada-Rojales, where he was arrested. He has now been placed at the disposal of the Torrevieja Courts.
