The Councillor for Social Welfare, Agustina Rodríguez, together with the president of the Asociación LiberTea, Pilar Soriano, read out a manifesto on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day, 2nd April. The pair were accompanied by members of the Asociación LiberTea, as well as by councillors from the Municipal Corporation.
In the manifesto Pilar Soriano stated that today, 2nd April, “we unite to recognise and celebrate the proximity of autism in our lives”. Through this statement “we call for a collective commitment that celebrates diversity and contributes to promote the real inclusion of all people in our society. Because autism is a natural and valuable part of human diversity and is present, in one way or another, in the lives of all people”.
The autism manifesto also focuses on the fact that “we can contribute to building a world where every individual is valued and respected for who they are. A more inclusive and understanding society”, so “on this World Autism Awareness Day 2024, we raise our voices in solidarity and commitment to people with autism and their families. Because, every day, autism is close to you”.
Meanwhile, the Councillor for Social Welfare announced that Orihuela Town Hall will be illuminated in blue to give greater visibility to this occasion
