The Wesenauer-Wagner family chained themselves again on ‘Holy’ Monday morning, to the construction machinery that is in place to begin the construction of several swimming pools and tourist homes next to their 200 year old finca.
The Ambassador has written to the mayor of Orihuela, José Vegara, asking him to intervene and stop the works.
The letter from ambassador, Enno Drofenik, points out that the Wesenauer-Wagners are Austrian citizens and residents of Orihuela and explains that the family lives in the Castillo de Don Juan urbanisation and “has seen its property threatened by an urbanisation project for the last 20 years,” Despite it being validated by the old Law Regulating the Urban Planning Activity of the Valencian Community (LRAU)”.
The ambassador says that he is aware that embassies and other diplomatic representations “are not responsible for intervening in legal or administrative procedures of the host State,” but, he also points out, “I hope that the authorities both regional and local regions of the Valencian Community are making every possible effort to guarantee the full legitimacy of citizens’ rights”.
He then he asks the mayor for support, “so that the necessary measures can be taken within his sphere of competence in order to achieve a satisfactory and fair solution for the parties involved.”
The developer Lideralis Empresarial en Desarrollo, which markets its developments under the Praxis brand, owned by a well-known family of builders from Molins (Orihuela), Víctor Gálvez and his son Víctor Valentino Gálvez, confirmed that they have a favourable report for the construction license but, like many of those that are building housing in Orihuela Costa, there were some deficiencies.
Such deficiencies by urban planning, that paradoxically allow licenses to be streamlined, have been common in Orihuela Costa and Torrevieja for decades with construction taking place by companies without having all the requirements.
