The Scotland and Finland women’s teams will meet in the final of the Costa Cálida Pinatar Cup next Tuesday after winning their respective semifinals.
Scotland, led by the Spanish coach Pedro Martínez Losa, beat the Philippines (2-0) in the first of Saturdays semifinals. Two early goals from the Spurs forward Martha Thomas were enough to put Scotland through.
Finland, meanwhile, had to work until the last minute to beat a difficult Slovenia team (1-0) thanks to a goal from Jutta Rantala in the first half.
The final of the Costa Cálida Pinatar Cup will be held on Tuesday, February 27 at 2:00 p.m. The two favourites will meet with the sole objective of lifting the trophy of a tournament that has established itself as one of the most important women’s competitions in the world.
Czech Republic and Portugal will contest the under-19 final.
Meanwhile, in the semifinals of the Costa Cálida Pinatar Cup Youth Group, the Czech Republic team beat Morocco on penalties after their match ended as a 2-2 draw. In the other match Portugal beat Sweden by 1-0 and will try to lift the trophy at their first attempt. The final will be played on Monday, February 26 at 4:00 p.m.
