Officers from the National Police have dismantled a criminal group dedicated to the distribution of cocaine on a small and medium scale from different locations in the Vega Baja in a macro operation carried out by the Elche Police Station where seven simultaneous searches have been carried out and they arrested the eleven members of the gang, including the leader.
The investigation has been going on for months, focussed mainly on the ringleader, who directed the network from a house located in Callosa de Segura.
From this address, the nerve centre of the criminal group, the main perpetrator had organised a network with different houses spread over different towns in Vega Baja.
Surveillance operations were launched to monitor homes located in the municipalities of San Isidro and Orihuela, as well as in the municipalities of Elche districts such as La Hoya or La Marina.
A wide police deployment was coordinated throughout the Elche countryside and the towns of Vega Baja, to carry out seven entries and searches, some of them simultaneous, thanks to which it was possible to arrest all the members of the network.
As for the result of the searches carried out, 1,070.33 grams of cocaine, 200 grams of hashish, 6 precision scales were seized along with other tools for the handling and sale of drugs, 3 semi-automatic pistols, 1 revolver, 8,215 euro in cash and 8 high-end vehicles.
One of the suspicions of the agents was confirmed after the intervention of the vehicles, since some had hidden compartments called “coves” where they introduce the drug to transport it to the delivery destination.
The detainees, eight men and three women, between the ages of 22 and 41, of Spanish and Colombian nationality, are accused of drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons and belonging to a criminal organisation.
After giving statements, two of them were released while waiting to be summoned to appear in court, while the other nine were made available to the Investigating Court on duty in Orihuela.
