Orihuela continues to be the municipality with the most electric vehicle charging points in the entire Valencian Community after the commissioning of four new public facilities.
They will be specifically in Hurchillo, Campoamor, Avenida Teodomiro and the Huertos Ecológicos Urbanos that will be added to the 17 already installed distributed in different locations in the urban area, districts and the coast.
These new recharging points have been subsidised by the Instituto Valenciano de Competitividad Empresarial (IVACE) within the Energy Savings and Efficiency Program in Transport, corresponding to 80% of the tender, which amounted to a total of 35,031 euro, for what the subsidy will be 23,160.80 euro.
The Councillor for the Environment, Dámaso Aparicio, has highlighted that “with these new points we continue to promote the use of electric vehicles, facilitating their recharging throughout our municipal area, and thus continuing with our objective of having a more sustainable and respectful environment”.
The recharging stations are Type 2 (semi-rapid) with the possibility of simultaneously charging two vehicles, through two sockets with a maximum power, in each of them, of 22 Kw in AC. Its operation is similar to the other existing points in the municipality and its use is very simple and free for users with the Iberdrola Smart Mobility application. As an example, one hour of recharging is equivalent to 100 km of autonomy.
Orihuela council is working to reduce energy consumption by promoting sustainable mobility by applying a 25% reduction in the Impuesto de Vehículos de Tracción Mecánica (IVTM) tax on hybrid vehicles and 75% in electric vehicles. At the same time, the government team has promoted the renovation of the mobile fleet with hybrid and zero vehicles. In fact, during the presentation a zero vehicle from the Department of Street Cleaning and RSU was being recharged.
The municipality currently has, in addition to the four open today, the recharging points of the Puente Alto Industrial Estate and those of the districts of Desamparados, La Aparecida, La Murada, San Bartolomé and Torremendo. On the coast, the vehicle can be recharged at Playa Flamenca, Aguamarina, La Zenia beach (2) and up to seven more locations on other streets in the town centre of the municipality and at the Palmeral Interpretation Centre.
Parking is prohibited at these points, so a campaign will be carried out in collaboration with the Local Police so that they are always free for those who want to recharge their vehicle.
In addition to these public points, we can add the existing recharging stations in private parking lots such as shopping centres, public parking lots and supermarkets in the municipal area. In total, between public and private there are more than fifty recharging points throughout the municipality of Orihuela.
