Torrevieja Councillor for Tourism, Fanny Serrano, said that a new season of guided tours by tourist train will begin at Las Salinas, an initiative that was launched only last year but one that has reaped amazing success, with more than 30,000 visits.
Now the responsibility of the Department of Tourism, the schedule of departures will be at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00 and 18:00 hours. Tickets can be purchased at Paseo de la Libertad, in front of Plaza Waldo Calero.
Like last year, the visits will cost 7.95 euros for adults and 6.95 euros for pensioners and children between 2 and 12 years of age.
The guided tours will last about 50 minutes. Along the route, which takes visitors through the different phases of salt production, sightseers will be able to listen to a commentary both in Spanish and English which will provide information on the characteristics of Las Salinas, such as its origin and its fauna, as well as the reason for its characteristic pink color.
The train also makes a stop inside the facilities in which tourists can take to take pictures and even climb one of the characteristic mountains of salt.
Fanny Serrano said that” we must also thank the work that has been done by the current operators of Las Salinas, the French multinational ‘Salins du Midi’, which has extensive experience of tourist visits to its farms in the French Camargue. ”
For all this, the councillor of Tourism has encouraged “both new and old visitors return to enjoy these visits, as we have many surprises from the industry and salt extraction prepared for this new season.”
