There was a 10.1% year-on-year increase in the number of tourists who visited Spain in July. According to official figures more than 10.5 millions tourists visited Spain bringing the total number of tourists to visit Spain in the first half of 2017 to almost 47 million.
Tourists from the UK in July comprised 22.1% of the overall number of foreign visitors to Spain with over 10 million Britons travelling to the country in the first half of the year. That number is followed by 6.8 million Germans who visited Spain during the same period.
The most visited area was the northeast region of Catalonia where Barcelona is located. More than 2 million visitors were welcomed to the region in July, 23.4% of the total number and a 6.5% year on year increase.
23.6% of visitors were welcomed in the Balaeric Islands in tourist hot spots such as Mallorca, Ibiza, and Menorca.
And the third most popular choice for foreign visitors to Spain was the region of Andalucia, home of cities such as Malaga, Marbella, Cadiz, Seville, Granada, and Cordoba.
