Bilingual coffee mornings, language exchange, wellbeing classes, bereavement support and faith activities are among the services being offered throughout 2026
Cornerstone Pentecostal Evangelical Church in Pilar de la Horadada is promoting a wide-ranging programme of community activities for 2026, with a strong focus on social inclusion, wellbeing, language exchange and support for both English-speaking and Spanish-speaking residents.
The bilingual English-Spanish brochure presents the church not only as a place of worship, but also as a community hub where residents can meet, learn, talk, exercise, pray and support one another. Its central message is clear: language should not be a barrier to friendship or participation.
One of the key weekly activities is the Friday Coffee Morning, held from 10.30am to midday, which includes an English-Spanish language exchange, or intercambio. The session invites residents to practise conversation in a relaxed setting over tea and coffee, with the aim of helping people improve their English or Spanish while making new friends.
The church says it particularly wants Spanish neighbours and international residents to come together, with the brochure stating: “The activities are the same for everyone: language is not a barrier.”
Alongside the coffee mornings, Cornerstone is also offering a varied programme of social and wellbeing activities. These include line dancing on Mondays at 4pm, handmade greeting card classes on Thursdays at 10am, and keep-fit exercise classes on Thursdays at midday. A new choir is also planned, with the church inviting people from the age of 10 through to adults to watch for further notices.
The programme also includes social events throughout the year, with the church asking an important question about the next stage of its community work: “But where are the children? Teenagers? Families?” The message reflects a clear ambition to reach beyond existing congregations and attract younger people, parents and families into local community activities.
A significant part of the church’s 2026 programme is dedicated to wellbeing and emotional support. On Fridays from 1pm to 2.30pm, the SHARE Bereavement & Loss group offers lunch and conversation for people experiencing grief or loss, giving them an opportunity to talk with others in similar circumstances.
Faith-based wellbeing is also a major feature. Christian Mindfulness and Meditation sessions are held on Mondays at 10.30am and 7pm, encouraging participants to “re-find and reset” their internal rhythms through reflection, breathing, prayer and stillness. The brochure links these sessions to Christian teaching, including the Lord’s Prayer and biblical passages about rest, renewal and spiritual balance.
Traditional church activities continue throughout the week. Sunday morning worship is held in English from 11am to 12.15pm, followed by coffee and conversation. Bible study takes place on Mondays at 5.30pm, while a prayer meeting for the church and the town is held on Thursdays at 6.30pm via Zoom.
Cornerstone’s church minister is also available for weddings, baby dedications and funerals, extending its ministry services to key moments in family and community life.
The church is located at Calle Escultor Ribera Girona 67, on the corner of Calle Doctor Barraquer, in Pilar de la Horadada. The brochure also includes details for donations to support the church’s community work, noting that expansion, growth and helping people require financial support.
With its message of “bringing the church into the community and the community into the church,” Cornerstone is positioning itself as a welcoming space for residents of different nationalities, ages and backgrounds.
Through its mix of social activities, language exchange, exercise, creative workshops, bereavement support, prayer, worship and meditation, the church hopes to strengthen community ties and offer practical, emotional and spiritual support throughout the year.
