Work has officially begun on the new Bauhaus DIY store in Torrevieja, following a foundation stone ceremony held this week at the construction site.

The event, attended by local officials, project representatives, and members of the press, marked the formal start of the development. Mayor Eduardo Dolón led the ceremony, laying the first stone and overseeing the placement of a time capsule beneath the foundations.

The project represents a major commercial investment for the city and is expected to play an important role in Torrevieja’s continued growth as a retail and economic centre on the Costa Blanca.

Bauhaus is one of Europe’s leading home improvement and DIY retailers, known for its large stores offering a comprehensive range of products, including construction materials, tools, decoration, and gardening supplies. The new Torrevieja location will bring this extensive offering to the area, catering to both professionals and the general public.

The development has been in planning for some time, with local authorities highlighting its potential to create employment and attract further investment into the region.

During the ceremony, the inclusion of a time capsule added a symbolic element, capturing the moment for future generations as construction begins on what is expected to become a key retail destination.

With the foundation phase now underway, construction work will continue over the coming months as the project moves closer to completion.

Once open, Bauhaus Torrevieja is expected to strengthen the local economy and provide a valuable resource for residents and businesses alike, reinforcing the city’s position as a growing hub for commerce and development.
