Torrevieja University Hospital has completed the renovation of 100 inpatient beds — around 40% of its total capacity — as part of its ongoing modernization plan. The €309,819 investment includes replacing outdated equipment, some in use for over 15 years, with advanced models designed to enhance patient comfort and safety.

The hospital currently operates 270 beds across general wards, the ICU, psychiatry, and pediatrics. The new beds feature improved ergonomics, mobility, and pressure injury prevention systems, benefiting both patients and medical staff. In addition, four high-tech critical care beds have been installed in the Intensive Care Unit, maintaining its total capacity at 18 beds but increasing its ability to handle complex cases.

Torrevieja Hospital continues to uphold its single-room policy for most inpatient areas, offering greater privacy and space for family members.

According to the 2024 Management Report, the hospital handled 14,163 admissions last year, with an occupancy rate of 83.45% and an average stay of 6.62 days. The Department of Health, which serves a population of over 215,000 — the oldest and most international in the Valencian Community — managed a total budget of €233 million in 2024.

In Primary Care, nearly 1.8 million consultations were recorded, alongside over 10,800 surgeries and 244,000 specialist visits, maintaining waiting times well below the regional average.
