October 14, 2025 — The Guardia Civil, as part of Operation “Tor 2”, has arrested two individuals accused of robbing a jewellery store in the town of Águilas (Murcia).

The investigation began when authorities were alerted to a robbery at a jewellery shop located in the center of Águilas. Officers immediately arrived at the scene and interviewed the store employee, who described the events in detail.

According to her statement, the first suspect entered the store with his face uncovered, posing as a customer and asking to see a piece of jewellery. Shortly afterward, a second man entered the shop wearing a cap and sunglasses, pushing a shopping cart. He quickly used a wooden stick to jam the door open — apparently to ensure an easy escape — before pulling out a heavy hammer and smashing several display cases. Once the glass was shattered, he grabbed all the jewellery within reach and fled the scene.

During the robbery, the employee managed to press the alarm button. Meanwhile, the first man, pretending to be a bystander, remained calm and expressionless, observing the chaos without intervening. After the second man fled, he quietly left the shop as well.

The review of security camera footage, combined with the employee’s testimony, confirmed that the thief escaped on a motorbike. Investigators also discovered that the “customer” was, in fact, an accomplice — his role was to distract the employee and make the operation appear less suspicious.

Following a detailed investigation, the Guardia Civil successfully identified and arrested both suspects. They are now facing charges of robbery with force, a serious offense under Spanish law.

The swift and coordinated work of the Guardia Civil highlights their ongoing efforts to combat violent theft and protect local businesses in the Region of Murcia.
