At the request of the Department of Public Safety, an extraordinary Security Board meeting took place on July 14, held both in person and online. Attendees included the Government Subdelegate for Alicante, the Lieutenant of the Civil Guard in Torre de la Horadada, the Commander of the Civil Guard in Torrevieja, the Chief Inspector of the Regional Police, and from the local government side, the Mayor, the Public Safety Councillor, the Chief Inspector of the Local Police, and the municipal secretary who recorded the meeting minutes.
During the session, municipal representatives expressed their concerns about recent security incidents, such as a recent shooting in Torre de la Horadada and certain locations known for drug dealing, emphasizing the need to increase available resources in the area.
The Government Subdelegate reported that 10 new officers have been added to the Torre de la Horadada Civil Guard station, with plans to continue increasing personnel.
Civil Guard representatives stated that the number of security checkpoints will be increased and reassured that the recent shooting is considered an isolated incident. These controls will be carried out jointly and in coordination with the Local Police.
Additionally, the regional police representative noted that surveillance efforts in rural areas and monitoring of commercial activity will continue.
Public Safety Councillor Marina Sáez emphasized the importance of the work carried out by the security forces, saying, “We want to communicate to the public how vital the work of the security forces is and recognize their efforts, which often go unnoticed but are a demanding task that ultimately yields positive results.”
